Guangdong Province, the Green Pearl on the Tropic
of Cancer

Situated in the southernmost part of Mainland
China, Guangdong Province covers a total area of 178,000 km2. Most
of the lands are hilly and mountainous, thus making it a province
with a big forestry sector.
Guangdong Province lies in the subtropical region, with the Tropic
of Cancer bisecting it and most of the lands having a subtropical
monsoon climate. It abounds in light, heat and water resources. |
A New Forestry Revolution, A Fresh Green World

In 1985, a "green revolution" was initiated across Guangdong Province. Only eight years later, all the forestless mountains had been afforested, two years ahead of time to realize the goal of greening Guangdong, for which it was awarded "the First Province of Greening and Afforestation" medal by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council of China.
